Royal Château of Amboise

The Château of Amboise, once an imposing fortress overlooking the Loire, then an elegant royal residence at the beginning of the Renaissance, is located 10 minutes from the campsite.  Discover this mecca of French history built in the 15th and 16th centuries by Charles VIII, Louis XII and Francis I.  Learn about the political and artistic history of Amboise: the life of the sovereigns, their daily life and what went on in the Court.  You can also explore Saint-Hubert chapel, a fine example of flamboyant Gothic art, where Leonardo da Vinci was laid to rest.
